Medical Front Desk Receptionist (FDH Chestnut)

Sante Health System is looking for a full time Medical Front Office to join our medical office team at Fresno Digestive Health in the Fresno, CA area. This position is responsible for checking patients in prior to entering the clinic by verifying eligibility, collecting copays, updating information, and greeting with excellent customer service.

Requirements:

• High school diploma/GED equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years front desk experience.
• Knowledge of EPIC and NextGen preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish/English for Spanish speaking patients preferred

Performance Requirements:

• Knowledge of office procedures.
• Knowledge of managed care products such as HMO's and PPO's.
• Ability to handle large phone volume and assorted tasks expediently and accurately.
• Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation to type patient information.
• Skill in operating a computer and photocopy machine.
• Skill in greeting patients and answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
• Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
• Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to sort and file materials correctly and in alphabetical or numeric systems
• Knowledge of accounting practices including auditing, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, general ledgers, journal entries and work papers.
• Knowledge of automated accounting systems.
• Skill in analyzing financial data and preparing appropriate related reports.
• Ability to communicate effectively.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner.
2. Answer phones: screen and respond to routine request for information;
3. Identify caller i.e., Name and DOB
4. Determine reason for call.
5. Direct caller to the appropriate person or place.
6. Take detailed messages
7. Schedule office appointments
8. Check in patients: verify patient eligibility, confirm, and update patient demographics as needed, collect copays
9. Check out patients/ confirm and schedule future appointments
10. Take phones off exchange in AM and after lunch. Put phones on exchange at lunch and end of day
11. Prepare charts for next day
12. Maintain work area and lobby in neat and orderly manner
13. Attend required meetings
14. Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
15. Comply with all work rules including those pertaining to safety and health
16. Perform related work as needed
17. Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations
18. Perform other duties and assignment requested by the Administrator
