Inventory and Cost Accounting Director

Role Summary

The Intersect Group is seeking a Director of Cost Accounting and Inventory Finance to lead global inventory valuation, standard costing, and manufacturing financial operations. This role ensures accuracy of plant assets, inventory, WIP, and costing across multiple sites and systems while driving compliance with GAAP and internal controls. You will oversee cycle counts, physical inventories, variance analysis, and cost modeling while partnering closely with plant operations, supply chain, and IT. This position plays a critical role in delivering financial insights, strengthening controls, and supporting automation and SAP transformation initiatives across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure global inventory, WIP, and plant assets physically exist, are owned, and are accurately valued under GAAP

• Lead cycle counts, physical inventories, and variance resolution with consistent global standards

• Own standard cost setting, quarterly updates, and costing policy governance across all systems

• Analyze production and purchase price variances and partner with plant teams to explain cost and margin impacts

• Oversee manufacturing and warehouse activity to ensure accurate financial system recording

• Prepare and review plant financial results, inventory reserves, and operational performance reporting

• Support SOX compliance, audit readiness, and documentation of inventory and costing controls

• Partner with Master Data and IT to maintain accurate costing data and drive automation improvements

Key Requirements

• 8 to 10 or more years of experience in manufacturing accounting, cost accounting, or operations finance

• CPA required with 3 to 5 years of public accounting experience, preferably Big 4

• Strong hands‑on SAP experience in manufacturing environments, including FI/CO, MM, Product Costing, and Material Ledger

• Deep expertise in standard costing, inventory valuation, production order settlement, and manufacturing operations

• Experience in multi‑plant or global environments with strong understanding of close and reporting processes

• Familiarity with automation tools such as Power BI, Alteryx, BlackLine, and AR/AP automation platforms

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate operational data into financial insights

• Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to partner across plant and corporate teams

Pluses:

• CMA / VMA certification
• IPO or SOX experience
• Previous acquisition integration exposure

Compensation: $180k-$200k + 20% Bonus
