This position requires you to be in the office at least three (3) days per week. Some of the duties you will perform are: BARS Codes-Budget, Accounting and Reporting System for Cities, Counties and Special Purpose Districts: Communicates changes and enhancements to the BARS system to users and updates or establishes BARS codes as needed. Processes accounts payable including but not limited to: contracts, pro-tempore, use tax, reimbursement of funds, encumbrances, and refunds. Reviews and verifies critical information including but not limited to: budget code, approval signature, proof of receipt, social security number, payment type, etc. in accordance with established procedures and accounting standards. Processes and prepares invoices for batching and entry into the state AFRS system. Prepares and monitors financial reports, researches and verifies financial data, reconcile reports and JV corrections in accordance with established procedures and accounting standards. Reconciles general ledger accounts and prepares journal vouchers. Reviews and verifies accounts receivable; prepares invoices. Responds to inquiries from clients regarding status of invoices, payments, etc. Assists in developing recommendations for business improvement measures for the Financial Services section. Assists higher level Financial Services staff with financial summary information, analysis of financial reports and development of internal financial procedures. Performs other duties as required. Education and Experience Requirements A combination of relevant education and experience demonstrating a working knowledge of the duties and responsibilities of the Financial Services Analyst may be considered in the meeting the qualifications. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely allied field INCLUDING 10 Semester or 15 quarter hours of college level accounting. Two (2) years of experience in fiscal bookkeeping or fiscal recordkeeping. 10 Semester or 15 quarter hours of college level accounting. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS At least one (1) year of BARS Codes-Budget, Accounting and Reporting System for Cities, Counties and Special Purpose Districts: Communicates changes and enhancements to the BARS system to users and updates or establishes BARS codes as needed. The ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following experience, education, knowledge, skills, and abilities Knowledge of basic accounting principles, office technology, and standard terminology. Understanding of fundamental state governmental accounting procedures and automated accounting system concepts. Proficient in email and word-processing applications. Able to meet productivity standards and deadlines while effectively managing time and resources. Skilled in identifying tasks, activities, and timelines necessary to achieve objectives. Adaptable to change, accountable, and committed to delivering excellent customer service. Effective oral and written communicator capable of managing multiple projects and maintaining focus. Demonstrates sound judgment in identifying risks, solving problems, prioritizing workload, and maintaining professional working relationships. Other Job Information The workweek may fluctuate depending on workload or agency needs. Overnight travel may be required based on business needs. This position may be overtime eligible.
