General Laborer / Production Worker

The General Laborer / Production Worker supports the manufacturing of 55-gallon steel barrels in a high-volume industrial facility. This role involves physically demanding labor, basic machine operation, and material handling throughout the production process. The position requires reliability, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to safety while working with heavy machinery and automated systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the operation of production machinery used in forming and seam welding steel barrels
• Load, unload, and transport metal barrels, drums, and plastic containers across the production line
• Perform outdoor processing tasks, including operating chain conveyors, automatic cutters, and paint-removal burners
• Execute general labor duties such as lifting, carrying, and positioning materials (3040 lbs regularly)
• Follow written and verbal work instructions in English to ensure accurate and efficient task completion
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, removing scrap materials and debris
• Adhere to all safety protocols and consistently use required personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Identify and report equipment issues, malfunctions, or safety concerns promptly
• Meet daily production targets while maintaining quality standards
• Work collaboratively with team members to support production goals
• Comply with company policies, including attendance, safety regulations, and pre-employment requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months experience in manufacturing, production, or other hands-on labor roles
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in an industrial environment
• Basic machine operation experience in a warehouse or production setting
• Ability to read and understand English for safety guidelines and work instructions
• Capable of lifting and carrying 3040 lbs consistently throughout shifts
• Strong reliability, work ethic, and attention to safety
• Comfortable working around heavy machinery in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in physically intensive roles (e.g., farm work, construction, or industrial labor)
• Familiarity with conveyors, automated systems, or industrial equipment
• Ability to stay focused in noisy, non-climate-controlled environments
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn new processes

Work Environment

• Industrial manufacturing facility producing steel barrels
• Exposure to loud noise, heavy machinery, and moving equipment
• Work performed both indoors and outdoors in non-climate-controlled conditions (heat/cold)
• Required PPE: steel-toe boots, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection
• Fast-paced setting with strict safety and quality standards

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Webster City, IA.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
