Our organization is in search of a board-certified or board-eligible physician specializing in Infectious Diseases to enhance our growing Division of Infectious Diseases within the Department of Medicine, located in Charleston, South Carolina. This role aims to improve access to healthcare and cater to a diverse patient demographic throughout the Charleston region. The position allows for involvement in either a clinical educator or modified clinical track, with primary duties based at our Main Hospital in downtown Charleston, along with opportunities for outreach in nearby communities.

About the Division of Infectious Diseases

This division comprises 21 physicians and 3 advanced practice providers, all committed to delivering exceptional patient-centered care, conducting research, and providing education. Faculty members spearhead essential institutional initiatives such as infection control, antimicrobial stewardship, and transplant infectious diseases. For over 30 years, the division has offered comprehensive HIV care, supported by the HRSA Ryan White Program and SC DHEC. Active research focuses on areas including HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, antimicrobial resistance, and related topics. Educational offerings include a two-year Infectious Diseases Fellowship and a one-year Transplant Infectious Diseases Fellowship, providing extensive clinical and research training.

Required Qualifications

• MD or MD/PhD

• Must hold Board Certification or be Board Eligible in Infectious Diseases

• Dedicated to the educational missions of our organization and passionate about teaching

Position Highlights

• Deliver inpatient and consultative care in Infectious Diseases across various MUSC Health facilities, serving a diverse and complex patient population

• Join a well-established, collaborative team of 21 physicians and 3 advanced practice providers

• Engage in inpatient teaching services, including participation in resident and fellow-led teams

• Provide inpatient and consultative Infectious Diseases care via telehealth as needed

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including transplant, hospital medicine, critical care, and surgical services

• Contribute to established programs such as antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention, and transplant infectious diseases

• Attend and engage in division conferences, case discussions, and grand rounds

• Opportunity to develop or enhance subspecialty interests within infectious diseases (e.g., HIV care, transplant ID, antimicrobial resistance, global health)

• Flexible modified clinical track with dedicated time for academic, research, or educational endeavors
