Job Description:

As a Senior Field Technician at HRP, you'll lead field activities for environmental, health, and safety projects, ensuring high-quality data collection, safe work practices, and smooth project execution. You'll work closely with project managers, supervise junior field staff, and serve as a reliable technical resource in the field. This role is ideal for someone who thrives outdoors, enjoys problem-solving, and is ready to take on greater responsibility.

This position may be based in either Clifton Park, NY or Buffalo, NY.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead field sampling programs for soil, groundwater, surface water, and air
• Oversee environmental site assessments, remediation activities, and monitoring programs
• Train and mentor junior field technicians and assist with task planning
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot field instruments and monitoring equipment
• Ensure accurate data collection, documentation, and chain-of-custody procedures
• Conduct site inspections, equipment setup, and field logistics coordination
• Communicate field conditions, progress, and findings to project managers
• Support health and safety compliance by modeling and enforcing HRP's safety protocols
• Assist with preparation of field summaries, logs, and technical documentation

Requirements:

• High school diploma required; associate degree or technical training in environmental science, geology, engineering, or a related field preferred
• 4+ years of environmental field experience
• Strong understanding of environmental sampling methods and field procedures
• Ability to lead field teams and coordinate field activities
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically active tasks
• Experience with field instrumentation, pumps, meters, and sampling equipment
• Travel to job sites, including occasional overnight travel for up to a week at a time
• Valid driver's license
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain)
