Job Description

Job Description

Description:

Agile Space Industries is a rapidly growing supplier of propulsion hardware and engineering services for the space industry. Headquartered in Durango, Colorado, with expanding operations in and Tulsa, Oklahoma, and upcoming growth in Seattle, Washington, Agile has achieved more than 40% year-over-year growth for the past three years, and our momentum continues to accelerate.

At Agile, we design, build, and test in-space propulsion systems that give spacecraft the ability to maneuver with precision, reliability, and purpose. Our technologies play a critical role in missions that range from lunar landings and resource utilization to national defense, human exploration, and commercial space transport.

We are seeking bold and driven individuals who thrive in a hands-on, fast-moving environment and want to help write the next chapter of space history as part of a close-knit, innovative team. You will take on a demanding and rewarding role at Agile, directly shaping the future of in-space propulsion. As an integral contributor during our growth stage, you will be eligible to participate in our stock option plan, giving you the opportunity to share in the long-term value you help create. All stock grants are subject to executive review and approval in accordance with the Company’s equity plan.

Agile Space Industries is seeking an onsite Data Acquisition and Controls Systems (DACS) Hardware Technician I/II in Durango, CO to support the fabrication, maintenance, and design of the low voltage DACS electrical systems that enable our hypergolic propulsion hot-fire testing.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate industrial Data Acquisition and Control System (DACS) enclosures and panels, building to schematics and drawings with an emphasis on quality and consistency.
  • Perform functional checkouts on new DACS enclosures, verifying that each unit performs as expected before it goes into service.
  • Fabricate and install instrumentation harnessing, including wire stripping, connector soldering and crimping, labeling, and cable dressing.
  • Troubleshoot a wide range of DACS and test site hardware, including enclosures, instrumentation, control systems, Ethernet networks, lights, fans, pumps, etc
  • Identify and document instrument pinouts, cable types, and I/O requirements based on instrumentation specification sheets.
  • Proactively identify potential wiring issues and resolve them before they develop into test-preventing problems.
  • Support other test site and manufacturing technician needs as determined by company priorities and delegated by a manager.
Requirements:
  • An intuitive understanding of low-voltage electrical systems, including a solid experiential grasp of Ohm's law, Power law, and Kirchoff’s laws.
  • Proven experience debugging and troubleshooting DC electrical systems, with the ability to methodically isolate faults and work from symptoms back to root cause.
  • Strong ability to utilize tools such as multimeters and power supplies for debugging systems
  • General fabrication skills, including drilling, soldering,
  • The ability to both interpret and create electrical schematics, translating between physical hardware and its documented representation.
  • Familiarity with basic computer programming concepts — enough to demonstrate understanding of how software and hardware work together in DACS
  • The ability to clearly articulate ideas both verbally and on paper, communicating technical information effectively through drawings, written procedures, and documentation.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the persistence to work a problem until it is fully resolved.
  • A high degree of self-motivation, with a habit of seeking out improvement opportunities and taking initiative even when no specific task has been assigned.
  • A strong safety-oriented mindset, with the discipline to work carefully on and around hazardous test environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industrial automation experience, such as working around PLCs, data acquisition systems, and other industrial control hardware.
  • Microcontroller experience, including building and programming small embedded systems (arduino, esp32, raspberry pi, etc).
  • A working knowledge of data acquisition fundamentals, such as the role of analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and why sampling frequency matters when capturing real-world signals.
  • High-voltage and AC experience, along with an understanding of the added safety considerations these systems require.
  • Networking experience, such as troubleshooting basic Ethernet-based device communication.
  • Experience with sensors such as pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, accelerometers, pyrometers, flow meters, etc
  • Experience with control mechanisms such as pneumatic solenoid valves, remote pressure regulators, relays, valve drivers, VFDs, motorized throttling valves
  • Experience with various test and measurement instruments such as power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes

Schedule Requirements

  • Standard schedule: 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (4/10s).
  • Typical schedule is Monday–Thursday, but days may rotate to Friday (or adjust with teammates) to ensure full coverage at the test site.
  • Overtime as needed to support test campaigns. Weekend or holiday work may occasionally be required during high-priority test operations.
  • Flexibility is expected to align with team rotation and testing needs.
