Established in 1991, TSH is a national model of university collaboration between university departments, businesses, and the K‑12 community. TSH’s mission is to collaboratively maintain and develop K‑12 teacher and student programs that inspire a passion for STEM learning, research, and discovery. The Science House achieves this through four strategic priorities: Teacher Professional Development – equipping teachers to use engaging instructional practices, emerging technologies, guided inquiry, and project‑based learning Student Programs – focused on problem‑solving, applied learning, collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and competition Rural Satellite Offices – provide teacher professional development, student programs, and an Equipment and Technology Loan Program in rural, high‑need areas Broader Impact Support – helps NC State faculty develop Impact Identities and carry out broader impacts activities integrated with their research that advance open and participatory science While working in this unit, you will foster a supportive and welcoming environment. The Science House’s Imhotep and Kyran Anderson programs introduce elementary and middle school students to the world of STEM, emphasizing outreach to under‑served and historically under‑represented students. Students actively discover the wonder of STEM through inquiry‑based activities, field trips, presentations, and career exploration with STEM professionals. Kyran Anderson Academy is a one‑week daily summer program for rising third through sixth graders. Imhotep Academy offers one‑week daily summer sessions, as well as Fall and Spring sessions for middle school students on Saturdays from 8:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Instructors may be hired for either or both camps. Key Responsibilities: Plan, prepare, and deliver curricula and instruction for Imhotep and Kyran Anderson camps, academies, and track‑out programs Use project‑based learning methods to facilitate STEM‑oriented instruction for adolescent students Attend teaching planning sessions and training related to the STEM program Employ a variety of instructional techniques, media, and performance assessments to guide student learning and interest in STEM Use technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration Collaborate with program director and staff to organize, develop, coordinate, and evaluate STEM activities Work Schedule: 5–10 hours per week, varying per week; Saturdays 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.; Summer or Track‑Out Camps: Monday–Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Qualifications BS or BA Degree with an emphasis in mathematics, science, technology, engineering, or education At least 1 year of related work experience Preferred Qualifications Current NC teaching certificate in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics related field Master’s degree in a STEM field Compensation $25 per hour – $30 per hour EEO Statement NC State University is an equal opportunity employer.
