Overview Chief Commercial Officer – Renewables – Germany. Are you an experienced commercial leader with strong experience in the power market in Germany, capable of growing high-performing commercial teams and developing a strategy to further commercialise an asset base while optimising operations and strengthening flexibility offerings? If you are excited by the prospect of helping an IPP develop and drive its strategy, this is the position for you. The Company An ambitious Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer (IPP) with several GW of operating renewables across Europe. As the portfolio expands, the organisation seeks to enhance its Energy Markets division through investment in high-focus markets and a strategy to drive P&L through sophisticated energy contracts, portfolio management, and trading. They are looking to secure a Director/MD of Energy Markets to join their high-performing Energy Management team and lead a dynamic Portfolio Management & B2B sales function. The Role You will be responsible for developing & leading the group’s Energy Management strategy within Germany and then across Europe. Some duties will include: Define & lead the company’s overall 3-to-5-year commercial strategy through origination, route-to-market, flexibility, portfolio management, trading, contracting, and asset optimisation plans for both the development & operating portfolio. Responsible for P&L. Lead, develop and scale a high-performing, ambitious commercial & energy markets team. Own the origination, negotiation and execution of long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), including corporate PPAs, utility offtake arrangements and other structured energy contracts. Lead portfolio management, including merchant exposure, hedging, trading interfaces, and balancing. Build and manage strategic relationships with utilities, industrial and corporate offtakers, traders, aggregators, financial institutions etc. Lead Commercial Asset Management, driving improvements to contracts, contract performance, commercial optimisation, and asset-level value enhancement. Provide commercial leadership for new investment and development opportunities, including bid management for auctions, tenders, and CfD-type mechanisms. Introduce innovative new products to the market, including advancements in BESS & flexibility offerings, other emerging revenue streams, and creation of bespoke solutions for key clients. Lead Business Development strategies, including developing strategic partnerships, expanding existing client value, and identifying new markets. Establish robust commercial governance & risk processes, including effective management & reporting systems. Own the company strategy for Commercial & Market Intelligence, including cross-European policy and regulations, and necessary processes for adoption of changes. Act as a key member of the executive leadership team, advising the CEO, Board, and shareholders on commercial strategy, portfolio risk, market positioning and long-term value creation. The Person The successful candidate will likely have: 3+ years leadership experience in Trading, Portfolio Management, or PPA Origination Proven successes in creating/executing strategy for origination, portfolio management, trading, and product creation Strong commercial acumen with proven experience driving value into your organisation’s energy markets team Ability to solve complex problems, engage, lead, motivate, and inspire teams to success Speak English, German would be beneficial, as would other European languages Due to the dynamic growth and increased focus in Germany, your progression opportunities will be limited only by your desire to succeed, with a real opportunity to take a larger role in the next 2 to 3 years.
