Anesthesiology Opportunity At Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto

Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto is a 339-bed acute care hospital located in Southaven, Mississippi. Their highly skilled and experienced doctors, nurses, and staff provide a wide range of health care services, including ancillary, cancer, emergency and surgical, heart, neurology, women's and children's services, and more. Baptist-DeSoto was the first hospital in DeSoto County to offer open-heart surgery.

The anesthesia care team approach provides a collaborative work environment where CRNAs, MDs, and the surgical team share strong, respectful relationships—led by inspiring and supportive leadership. Currently our care team model includes approximately 3 anesthesiologists and 15 CRNAs, who have created a cohesive group.

Responsibilities include pre-anesthesia assessment, obtaining and/or verifying patient consent, discussing anesthetic options and risks with the patient, induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia, monitoring of the patient's physiological condition, performance of clinical intervention as needed, and assisting in the directing and coordinating of activities in the Anesthesia Department. The physician is responsible for the medical management of patients who are rendered unconscious and/or insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgery and other medical procedures.

Requirements include an M.D./D.O. degree from an accredited College of Medicine, ECFMG and FLEX completion, completion of an approved residency in anesthesia, currently licensed as a physician in Mississippi, and board certification or actively board eligible by the American Board of Anesthesia.
