Company Overview Shades of Light is one of the most dynamic e-commerce brands in the $800 billion home furnishings market. We strive to inspire our customers to distinguish their unique style with a highly curated selection of hand-picked and exclusive designs. Shades of Light started from humble beginnings in 1986 as a small, single retail location in historic Richmond, Virginia selling unique, high-style lighting designs. Since that time, the company has grown to become a national, multi-channel retailer of lighting and other home decor products, including rugs, furniture, mirrors, fans, and wall decor. True to its heritage though, the company has remained singularly focus on its curated collection of high-style products and unique lighting designs, many of which are produced in-house by the company's own staff of highly trained artisans. Job Summary The Manufacturing Manager will be responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. This includes training, quality control, and ensuring the team meets production metrics. You will be responsible for providing leadership guidance on establishing a productive, high performing, and safety conscious working team environment. The role will manage and coordinates all production activities, operations, and staffing to ensure conformance to established procedures; implements practices that maximize production efforts to improve the overall effectiveness and financial performance of the production department Job Requirements/Expectations:
• Reviews, analyzes, modifies, and implements efficient and effective department processes, policies, and procedures.
• Interfaces with Managers and Team Leads to ensure highest degree of final quality and actively develop new and better-quality methods.
• Assigns duties and monitors quality of work; assures staff conforms to organizational policies and procedures.
• Provides day-to-day guidance and oversight of subordinates; actively works to promote and recognize performance.
• Keeps up to date on overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions.
• Identifies, documents, and implements opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Ensures approved manufacturing methodology is being followed.
• Hires, trains, supervises, motivates, and develops production staff; oversees schedules and workflow.
• Develops and communicates goals and key initiatives to improve department performance and success.
• Develops, monitors, and provides access to daily production requirements.
• Maintains knowledge of the labor force to manage fluctuations in product demand.
• Maintains knowledge of capacity and develops solutions for efficient utilization.
• Ensures all safety rules and regulations are followed; investigates accidents in a timely, accurate, and complete manner.
• Implements, and monitors department budget; manages expenses within approved budget constraints.
• Work with CFO to control operating costs. Competencies:

• Accountability for excellence - The ability to comfortably hold oneself and others to clear standard of excellence.

• Bachelor's degree in operation management or equivalent experience
• 5-10 years of leadership experience in a production environment
• Ability to work as part of and lead an effective team
• Highly detail orientation
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of SAP or other similar ERP
• Effectively communicate with multiple levels within the organization
