Plasma Center Nurse - LPN

Description Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services supports operations by determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results. Responsibilities Determine donor eligibility, including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE). Evaluate donor reactions as outlined in the SOPs and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician standing orders and arranging donor transport to emergency care facilities. Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when providing unacceptable findings to donors or requiring medical/technical guidance concerning donor safety and eligibility. Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees. Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER, referencing EHS guidance regarding employee incidents. Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community. Provide center‑level support for environmental, health and safety (EHS) in accordance with guidance from BioLife Medical Affairs. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalence from a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements. Current license or certification in the state of assignment (LPN or LVN). Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification. Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy. Successful completion of FDA‑approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist. At least two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
