In highly regulated and mission-critical environments, these capabilities must be delivered with strict requirements for security, compliance, reliability, and operational excellence.This role sits at the intersection of software engineering and site reliability engineering (SRE). You will work on distributed systems that enable Power Platform services to function in isolated, air-gapped environments, partnering with Public Cloud teams to bring features to parity while ensuring those features meet the unique constraints of sovereign deployments.You will be expected to operate with a high degree of ownership-driving design, implementation, live-site operations, and continuous improvement while contributing to a culture of automation, observability, operational maturity, and continuous learning. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.ResponsibilitiesLive-Site Ownership & Incident Response- Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) for service components, owning availability, reliability, and operational health- Participates in on-call rotations, responding to incidents by assessing impact, troubleshooting issues, mitigating customer impact, and driving resolution- Leads or contributes to root cause analysis (RCA) and postmortems, ensuring learnings translate into systemic improvements- Responsibly uses approved AI-assisted tools, where appropriate, to accelerate investigation, analyze complex information, and identify potential paths to resolution while maintaining security and compliance requirementsService Reliability & Operations- Uses existing tools and develops new capabilities to troubleshoot issues affecting availability, performance, security, and efficiency- Leverages telemetry and monitoring to identify trends, detect anomalies, and proactively improve service health- Drives improvements in observability, alerting, and diagnostics- Identifies opportunities to use automation and AI-assisted capabilities to reduce operational toil and help each team member work more effectivelyEngineering & System Design- Contributes to architecture and design discussions for components of Power Platform services- Identifies dependencies across teams and incorporates them into design specifications and execution plans- Ensures systems meet performance, scalability, security, and compliance requirements, especially within air-gapped constraints- Applies sound engineering judgment when evaluating AI-generated recommendations, code, and technical contentDeployment & Automation- Develops and improves CI/CD pipelines and deployment systems, enabling safe, repeatable, and automated releases- Drives zero-touch or low-touch deployment automation using internal tooling and safe deployment practices- Improves engineering efficiency by reducing manual operations and operational toil- Uses modern development tools, including approved Copilot and AI-assisted capabilities, to streamline routine work and increase the impact of individual engineersProduct & Feature Support- Collaborates with Public Cloud teams to onboard features, resolve dependencies, and align environments- Supports integration and validation across Power Platform services, including Power Automate, Dataverse, and Power Apps- Participates in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and execution to deliver engineering commitments- Shares effective tools, prompts, workflows, and lessons learned that can improve productivity across the teamQualificationsRequired/Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.Other Requirements: Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate U.S. Government clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport, or other approved documents, or verified US government ClearancePreferred/Additional Qualifications:Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $102,100 - $202,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,800 - $219,200 per year.
