CNC Machine Operator

5-Axis MachinistThe 5-Axis Machinist is responsible for operating advanced CNC machinery to produce high-precision aerospace components in a contract manufacturing environment. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain tight tolerances while ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency. The Machinist works closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to support on-time delivery and continuous improvement initiatives.Key Responsibilities:Operate 5-axis CNC machines to manufacture high-tolerance aerospace components.Read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, and technical documents to ensure accuracy of dimensions and specifications.Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring tools to verify product quality.Maintain tight tolerances for hole placement, depth, and diameter requirements.Run multiple machines when required to maximize productivity while maintaining quality standards.Edit and adjust CNC programs using G-code as needed.Track estimated versus actual job hours to support efficiency and cost control.Maintain organization of tools and return equipment to designated locations after use.Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).Collaborate with team members to support production goals and maintain a positive work environment.Participate in cross-training and continuous improvement initiatives to expand capabilities.Required Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent.Minimum of 5 years of CNC machining experience, preferably with 5-axis equipment.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, setup documentation, and technical drawings.Working knowledge of G-code and ability to edit programs.Strong math skills including basic calculations and measurements.Experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and scales.Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and basic computer software including Microsoft Office.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain productivity in a fast-paced environment.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in aerospace or high-precision manufacturing environments.Familiarity with hoists, forklifts, and crane-assisted setups.Experience with large part setups and complex machining operations.Willingness to work flexible schedules or overtime as needed.Work Environment:Shop floor environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and moving equipment.Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.May require lifting, standing for extended periods, and operating heavy equipment.Fast-paced, production-driven environment with changing priorities.Multiple shift options available, including first and second shift with shift differential for second shift.Shift Schedule:Multiple shift options available, including first and second shifts, with a shift differential for the second shift.
