Role Description The Circulating Nurse is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Southfield, MI, responsible for overseeing patient care and workflow in the operating room. This role coordinates the surgical environment, ensures all necessary supplies and equipment are available and functioning, and supports the surgical team before, during, and after procedures. Daily responsibilities include verifying patient identity and consent, performing pre‑operative assessments, maintaining sterile technique in collaboration with the scrub team, and documenting intraoperative care accurately. The Circulating Nurse communicates with anesthesia, surgeons, and other clinical staff to anticipate needs, promotes patient safety, and supports efficient room turnover. The role also involves educating patients and families about perioperative processes, adhering to hospital policies and regulatory standards, and participating in quality improvement activities. Qualifications Strong foundation in Nursing and Medicine, with the ability to apply clinical judgment in a fast‑paced surgical environment. Demonstrated expertise in Surgical Nursing and Operating Room practices, including patient advocacy and intraoperative coordination. Experience or training in Perioperative care across pre‑operative, intraoperative, and post‑operative phases. Current valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate degree in Nursing considered with relevant experience. Previous operating room or perioperative nursing experience in an acute care or surgical center setting strongly preferred. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); CNOR certification is an asset but not required. Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and remain calm under pressure.
