Travel PICU RN jobs with cardiac skills in Tacoma, WA place you in a brand new children’s hospital designed for advanced pediatric care and family-centered healing. You will work in a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center with 22 PICU beds and an average census of 10-11 patients per day. To qualify, you need an active RN license, Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications, plus at least two years of PICU experience with one year in a pediatric cardiac intensive care unit (PCICU). You must be skilled in aseptic and sterile technique, basic dressing changes, ventilator and trach management, suctioning, G/GJ/J-tube management, NG tubes, chest tubes, epidurals, PCA pumps, drip management, foley insertion and management, central line dressing changes and care, central line and peripheral blood draws, discharging patients, and possess strong soft skills such as quick learning, critical thinking, and good time management. Experience with ECMO and peritoneal dialysis is preferred but not required. You will care for mixed PICU/PCICU patients, including neuro, cardiac, respiratory, surgical, and medical cases, with a focus on congenital heart defects and post-cardiac surgery care. Experience with EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) is preferred. You may float to Pediatric MedSurg, ED, NICU, or serve as a sitter as needed. Shifts are 0700-1930 or 1900-0730, with every other weekend rotation. Scrub color is any solid, professional color.
