POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise day-to-day technical operations in collaboration with the Program Director, maximizing service while minimizing cost. Ensure timely and accurate laboratory services across all sites. Implement process improvements using knowledge, experience, and innovation. Travel regularly between laboratories as required. Oversee receipt and acceptance or rejection of lab specimens. Perform waived, moderate‑to‑high complexity procedures in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, serology, immunohematology, histocompatibility, histology, cytology, and molecular areas. Operate and maintain complex laboratory analyzers. Make independent decisions on reporting normal and abnormal test results; manage blood product inventory, reagents, and supplies. In concert with the CLIA Lab Director and CLIA Technical Supervisor, monitor and revise the Laboratory Quality Plan. Implement quality and service improvements. Report and respond to all technical incidents, errors, or complaints promptly. Act as delegated CLIA Technical Consultant and General Supervisor, ensuring compliance with all regulatory, licensing, safety, and accreditation requirements. Write, review, and implement cost‑center policies and procedures. Enforce Hospital Partner policies and perform personnel actions (hiring recommendations, performance evaluations, training, competency assessments, remedial and disciplinary actions). Oversee payroll functions, schedule staff, and assign workstations. Support laboratory staff and facilitate student educational activities. Represent laboratory management in meetings and on committees. Collaborate with others to achieve organizational goals. Perform duties in a caring, professional manner, modeling a customer‑focused environment. Prepare, implement, and control the cost‑center budget with the Program Director and Laboratory Administrative Director. Evaluate analyzers, software, and test systems for capital purchase, lease, and reagent rental agreements. Communicate effectively with administration and leadership. Follow and enforce all company policies. Participate in monthly governing board and quarterly quality assurance meetings. Ensure adherence to employment, affirmative action, HIPAA, safety, and drug regulations. Rotate weekend supervisor call coverage. Attend staff meetings and complete mandatory training. Adhere to dress code, core values, policies, time & attendance guidelines, and confidentiality. Perform any other duties assigned by management within job specifications.COMPETENCIES
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines. Technical competence in laboratory disciplines. Understanding of laboratory regulatory issues. Understanding of laboratory Quality Management Systems and Quality Assurance.REQUIRED EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physical Sciences, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field is required; Master’s degree preferred.REQUIRED SKILLS
Effectively interact with customers to understand needs and explain data. Strong dialogue and customer‑service communication with patients, staff, and partners.REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Experience meeting CLIA requirements for Technical Consultant/Supervisor and General Supervisor (credentials dependent). Five or more years as a Technologist. Previous supervisory experience preferred.ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Florida license as a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor in Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, and Immunohematology (Blood Bank). ASCP (MLS/MT) or AMT certification required. National certification from ASCP Board of Certification for assigned work areas preferred. Exceptional communication and leadership skills required. Demonstrated stable work history.WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position operates in a healthcare setting with routine talking, hearing, and communication with patients and staff. Visual acuity (near, distance, color, peripheral, depth) and focus adjustment are required. The role involves moderate noise levels from equipment. Physical activity includes standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and occasional lifting or assisting patients. Employees may be exposed to common healthcare environmental conditions such as radiation, infectious disease, bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, fumes, odors, gases, and dust.EEO STATEMENT
