Position Title: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)/Physicians Assistant (PA)
Reports To: Medical Director
Position Summary : The PMHNP/PA provides direct services to clients enrolled in outpatient treatment program with PHP/IOP/OP levels of care for individuals with substance use disorder and/or mental health disorder. The PMHNP/PA completes assessments, medication management and conducts education sessions for clients. The PMHNP/PA works in conjunction with the Medical Director to ensure program requirements are implemented in order to address physical and mental health issues and promote general wellness for clients.

- Works in collaboration with a supervising physician to evaluate, diagnose, examine, and prescribe medications for clients.
- Provide psychiatric services and physical and psychosocial examinations.
- Develop and manage appropriate treatment plans for clients and provide effective management of client care.
- Perform client psychiatric evaluations, and medication reviews, take client histories, and physicals, provide risk factor assessment, and provide consultations and care management for clients.
- Prescribe medications following the organization's policy, and formulary, and within State and Federal guidelines.
- Submit accurate and complete documentation in client charts in a timely manner, meeting the organization's documentation policies.
- Maintain thorough documentation of all client interactions as well as any communication with support system and outside providers.
- Provide up-to-date and scientifically backed healthcare education for clients and their support systems.
- Educate clients on medications and potential medication side effects.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to promote team approach to client care, notify staff of any significant health risks or concerns that may impact a client's safety or success in treatment and help promote client wellness in recovery.

Education/Licensure
- Possession of a Master's degree from an accredited school.
- This position requires a valid license to practice as a nurse practitioner or physicians assistant and certification as PMHNP or PA-C.
- Registration with DEA's Diversion Control Division for prescribing of controlled pharmaceuticals or ability to complete registration within first 90 days of employment. (Preferred)
- The equivalent of two years of post-license experience as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. (Preferred)
Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge and experience with applicable clinical standards and licensure requirements.
- Understands the principles and practices of direct client service delivery.
- Working knowledge of common peer-led recovery programs such as AA/NA (12-Step), Smart Recovery, and Recovery Dharma
- Working knowledge of contemporary and emerging SUD treatment modalities (e.g. trauma-informed, motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment therapy)
- Ability to provide competent and compassionate treatment services with a customer service orientation.
- Experience operating sophisticated electronic medical records (EMR) platform
- General knowledge of the requirements for third-part reimbursement practices
- Strong clinical documentation skills
- Effective verbal & non-verbal communication.
- Knowledgeable about federal and state rules and regulations for the treatment of individuals with substance use disorder(s).
- Ability to interpret, explain and apply regulations, policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate the ability to work in partnership with multi-disciplinary staff balancing the needs of individuals with one's own clinical and professional responsibilities.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills, including active listening, to influence others, build constructive relationships and achieve outcomes.
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Can analyze complex issues, propose solutions, and implement decisions in conjunction with the executive staff.
- Welcomes change; Committed to encouraging continuous improvement and learning; Manages own workload effectively while being flexible to new demands.
- Ability to accept and delegate responsibility, make sound judgments and accurately assess when issues should be referred to program management.
Language Ability : Read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, agencies, or members of the business community. Write speeches and articles for publication.
Mathematical Ability : Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability : Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

- CPR/first aid certified.
- Criminal background check.

- Verification of previous employment via professional references.
- Valid driver's license; Independent, reliable transportation
- Completion of continued education and trainings for maintained licensure.
