Role Description The Billing Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in Petoskey, MI. This position is responsible for supporting day-to-day billing operations, including preparing and submitting invoices, verifying patient and insurance information, and ensuring accurate posting of charges and payments. The Billing Assistant will follow up on outstanding accounts, assist with resolving billing discrepancies, and communicate professionally with patients, payers, and internal clinical staff regarding billing questions. The role includes maintaining organized billing records, supporting month-end processes, and adhering to established policies, regulatory requirements, and confidentiality standards. The Billing Assistant collaborates with the administrative and finance teams to promote efficient revenue cycle management and a positive experience for patients. Qualifications Candidates should possess skills in billing processes and invoicing to manage daily billing activities accurately. Candidates should possess strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, insurance representatives, and internal team members. Candidates should possess foundational accounting and finance skills to support accurate recording of charges, payments, and adjustments. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a clinical office environment. Proficiency with billing software, electronic health records, and general office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office). Knowledge of medical billing, insurance verification, and reimbursement processes is preferred. Prior experience in healthcare billing, medical office administration, or a related field is beneficial.
