Pre-Planning Advisor / Family Service Counselor – Sales & Community Outreach
Sunset Memorial Gardens & Stoddard Funeral Home | Greeley, Colorado

At Sunset Memorial Gardens and Stoddard Funeral Home, we help families make informed, meaningful decisions both before and at the time of a loss.

As a Pre-Planning Advisor / Family Service Counselor, you will serve families in two important ways:

• Pre-need planning: Helping individuals and families plan funeral, cremation, cemetery, and memorial arrangements in advance so they can protect the people they love from emotional and financial pressure later.
• At-need family service: Supporting families who have recently experienced a death and are preparing to lay their loved one to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

This is not a traditional “sit behind a desk and wait for leads” sales role. It is a relationship-based career for someone who is naturally warm, proactive, disciplined, and genuinely motivated to help people during some of life’s most important moments.

You will build trust in the Greeley community, educate families about their options, follow up consistently, and create meaningful relationships that lead to appointments, referrals, and long-term impact.

What You Will Do

Pre-Need Family Planning & Community Outreach

• Meet with individuals and families to educate them on funeral, cremation, cemetery, and memorial pre-planning options.
• Guide families through thoughtful decisions, payment options, paperwork, and next steps with accuracy, professionalism, and compassion.
• Build a personal network through community involvement, referral development, events, follow-up, and local outreach.
• Proactively create appointments through phone calls, text outreach, follow-up conversations, and relationship-building activities.
• Maintain organized client records, follow-up plans, and activity goals using company systems.
• Deliver exceptional service before, during, and after every family interaction.

At-Need Family Service

• Meet with families who have experienced a recent loss and are making final arrangements at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
• Coordinate closely with Stoddard Funeral Home and internal team members to ensure families receive a seamless, compassionate experience.
• Help families finalize cemetery and burial documentation, review existing arrangements, and identify any cemetery, memorial, or burial items needed before services take place.
• Professionally collect any funds due in accordance with company policies before burial.
• Provide clear guidance while honoring each family’s needs, wishes, budget, and timeline.
• Be present at graveside services as a caring, professional representative of Sunset Memorial Gardens and Stoddard Funeral Home.
• On average, support approximately two to three at-need families each week.

Ideal Backgrounds

Previous funeral or cemetery experience is not required. We welcome candidates with a strong record of success in roles such as:

• Consultative or outside sales
• Insurance or financial services
• Real estate or mortgage
• Account management or business development
• Hospitality, customer service, or client-facing leadership
• Nonprofit fundraising or community outreach
• Retail leadership with strong relationship-building responsibilities

The most important qualifications are emotional intelligence, personal drive, professionalism, strong follow-through, and a willingness to build relationships in the community.

Schedule and Work Location

• Full-time, onsite role in Greeley, Colorado
• Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
• Some Saturdays: 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
• Flexibility may occasionally be needed to support family services or graveside commitments.
• Reports directly to the Assistant Sales Manager
• Remote work is not available for this position

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation includes a base pay structure plus performance-based incentives tied to results and service outcomes.
