School Psychologist (0.6 FTE) Westwood Public Schools Pine Hill Elementary School – Westwood, Massachusetts Job Details Job ID: 5700564 Application Deadline: Aug 28, 2026 11:59 PM (Eastern Standard Time) Posted: May 04, 2026 4:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Immediately Position Type: Full‑Time Salary: $60,818 to $139,019 Per Year Job Description Nature and Scope The effective School Psychologist is aware of and up to date on effective instructional processes, understands classroom and school environments, is capable of operating within schools and collaborating with State agencies, applies principles of learning to the development of student competence both within and outside of school, consults with educators and other professionals regarding cognitive, affective, social and behavioral performance of students, assesses developmental needs and develops educational plans that meet those diverse needs, coordinates and interfaces with educational, psychological and behavioral health services, intervenes to provide clinical support at the individual, group, school and district level, and develops effective partnerships with parents and community members within the context of the MADESE regulations for general and special education and the Westwood Public Schools policies and procedures. Essential Functions / Responsibilities Develop, implement, document and interpret comprehensive psychological evaluations as part of the legally required IEP and 504 processes under MADESE regulations and IDEA requirements. Create, maintain and flexibly develop effective counseling relationships and clinical interventions to meet student needs and facilitate progress toward goals; maintain accurate records of work. Maintain accurate testing data, scheduling and timeline lists to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local requirements and use data to measure student progress. Participate in the school‑level pre‑referral and positive behavioral support team process to design assessment and intervention planning as part of a multidisciplinary team. Effectively communicate with all team members including parents, administrators, general‑education teachers, outside providers, related service providers and agency partners. Collaborate with peers, remain prompt, punctual and reliable in handling sensitive, confidential, and FERPA‑protected student and family information; respect confidentiality and maintain professional boundaries. Adhere to ethical and legal requirements, keep records that are appropriate, accurate, legible, well‑organized and stored securely. Provide consultation services to teachers and other professionals to help each student reach potential in the least restrictive environment, including ongoing direct work in general or special education settings. Serve as a member of the crisis response team and provide interventions as needed, supporting other psychologists in the district. Perform all other related duties as requested by supervisor. Required Qualifications Licensed as a School Psychologist by the Massachusetts Department of Education. Demonstrated competency in theory, administration and interpretation of recognized standardized instruments. Ability to write comprehensive and informative reports that contain appropriate educational data. Knowledge, Ability, and Skill Report writing. Completion of relevant IEP sections in a timely manner. Completion of 504 plans as assigned. Personal Qualities Respectful and collaborative with colleagues from diverse philosophical and academic backgrounds. Empathic and fair in communication. Highly skilled in active listening and using verbal and non‑verbal behaviors to support relationship building. Able to set, monitor and adjust treatment goals continuously. Skilled in individual, group, whole‑school and district‑level interventions. Job Environment Work takes place in a fast‑paced school environment with interruptions as a matter of course. Tasks are performed in various settings including hallways, classrooms, offices, recess, gym, lunchroom and other locations within the school building. Physical Requirements Vision and hearing sufficient to read printed documents and communicate orally. Frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching and occasional lifting up to 30 lbs. Ability to complete and pass de‑escalation training such as Crisis Prevention Intervention and to perform appropriate de‑escalation actions as part of a school‑wide crisis response team. Computer skills for evaluating, scoring, writing reports and completing IEP progress reports and goal statements.
