Compensation: $650,000–$850,000

We are seeking an accomplished Trauma Medical Director to lead a well-established Level II Trauma Center serving a large and diverse patient population in Jacksonville, Florida. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced trauma surgeon to oversee a high-performing trauma program while maintaining an active acute care surgery practice within a collaborative academic environment.

Working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team, the Trauma Medical Director will provide strategic leadership, drive quality initiatives, mentor physicians, and ensure continued excellence in trauma and acute care surgery.

• Approximately 1,840 trauma activations annually
• High-volume blunt and penetrating trauma program
• 56-bed Emergency Department
• 36-bed combined Trauma and Medical ICU
• 26 operating rooms
• Seven dedicated Advanced Practice Providers
• Six full-time Trauma Surgeons
• Participation in TQIP and national trauma collaboratives
• 12-hour in-house coverage with 12-hour backup call

• Provide strategic leadership for the Trauma and Acute Care Surgery program
• Maintain an active clinical practice in trauma and acute care surgery
• Lead quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with trauma verification standards
• Oversee trauma program operations and multidisciplinary collaboration
• Mentor trauma surgeons, Advanced Practice Providers, residents, and clinical staff
• Participate in physician recruitment and program development
• Collaborate with hospital leadership to expand trauma services and improve patient outcomes
• Participate in trauma committee meetings, peer review, and performance improvement activities
• Support ongoing research, education, and academic initiatives
• Foster a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, and patient-centered care

• MD or DO
• Board Certified in General Surgery
• Added Qualifications in Surgical Critical Care
• Current ATLS Instructor certification
• Previous experience as a Trauma Medical Director or Associate Trauma Medical Director
• Eligible for unrestricted Florida medical licensure
• Current unrestricted DEA registration (or ability to obtain)

• Experience leading a verified Level I or Level II Trauma Program
• Strong background in trauma program administration and regulatory compliance
• Academic teaching and research experience
• Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary trauma teams
