Facilities Coordinator I

Facilities Coordinator I (2601451) – Texas Department of Transportation, Houston Headquarters, 7600 Washington Ave, Houston, Texas. This position supports the facility team by coordinating, inspecting, and monitoring building maintenance, operations, and service activities such as grounds maintenance, housekeeping, paint shop operations, carpenter shop operations, and security across one or more sites. Responsibilities Coordinate, inspect, and monitor building operations and service activities including housekeeping, security, inside painting, carpentry, and/or groundskeeping. Enter work order information and track projects in the Automated Software System; order materials and equipment. Monitor building maintenance, equipment condition, and service contracts. Evaluate and may assist in developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs. Provide estimates of time and materials needed for each assignment. Lead technical employees and administrative or clerical support staff. Assist in periodic inspections of buildings and grounds. Qualifications Education: High School Graduate or equivalent in general high school studies. Experience: Minimum 6 years in building inspection, maintenance, utility systems, electrical, carpentry, painting (full‑time or prorated part‑time). Related college education or relevant technical training may substitute for experience on a year‑per‑year basis. Valid driver’s license; position requires driving a state vehicle. Considerable knowledge of preventive maintenance methods and procedures; building support service operations and management; methods and materials used in groundskeeping. Some knowledge of monitoring the status and progress of projects; using computers, applicable programs, applications, and systems. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Subject to environmental conditions; protection from weather but not temperature changes. Subject to outside environmental conditions; no effective weather protection. Sedentary work; lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools. Balancing, walking, standing, crouching on various surfaces without falling. This job is physically demanding and will require a pre‑employment physical. Must pass a drug test prior to employment for safety impact positions; subject to random drug testing.
