Essential Job Functions Group Fitness Instructors will be responsible for leading multiple group fitness classes that range in variety and levels. This includes counting, cueing, organizing choreography, and planning playlists ahead of class time. This is a part-time position paid on an hourly basis. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following responsibilities: Arriving at least 10 minutes prior to the session to prepare music, set up equipment, and greet participants Interacting with participants ensuring that they have a positive, safe experience Promoting knowledge of proper fitness components (i.e. warmup, aerobic exercise, strength exercise, flexibility, cool down, etc.) Developing safe workouts for participants, considering different fitness levels and proper form Providing modifications and progressions throughout classes to ensure all fitness levels receive a full and appropriate workout Starting and ending classes on time Ensuring all equipment is put away, rooms are clean, and participants' questions are answered after the class Communicating any equipment or sound system issues to professional staff Attending mandatory staff meetings and trainings Remaining current with all group fitness and specialty format certifications through continuing education Submitting up-to-date documentation of all certifications to professional staff Other duties as assigned Minimum Requirements High School Diploma or GED Enrolled at a post-secondary institution or a secondary school. Enrolled at least part-time (one or more credit hours if at a post-secondary institution), except for summer term, or will be a registered student during the next academic term. Must be at least 16 years of age. Hold a primary group fitness certification from a nationally accredited organization. If teaching a specialty format (e.g. Zumba, Cycle, Barre, Pilates, etc.), hold a current certificate in that format. You must upload a copy of your certification to the "Additional Documents" section of the application. Hold a CPR certification or have the ability to obtain one in the first 3 months of hire.
