COMPENSATION: $32 - $39 depending on experience

Position Summary:

As a Reefer Technician, your day-to-day tasks often include inspecting, maintaining, and repairing refrigeration units on trucks, trailers, or shipping containers.

You will use diagnostic tools to identify faults, replace faulty parts, recharge refrigerant, and ensure units are operating within required temperature ranges.

Technicians frequently interact with drivers, dispatchers, and warehouse staff to coordinate repairs and minimize equipment downtime.

What You'll Need:

• High school or equivalent (GED) (Required)
• 608 certification
• Have at least 7+ years of working experience in a related field
• Valid Driver’s License (required)
• Must provide and maintain essential mechanic tools and toolbox for daily tasks
• Required to complete SpartanNash certification for safe driving skills for material handling equipment, tractors, and trailers (training provided)

Reefer:

• Diagnosing complex control board failures
• Replace compressors
• Repair evaporator and condenser systems
• Perform advanced refrigeration diagnostics
• Replace sensors and electrical components
• Analyze fleet refrigeration performance
• Train technicians
• Oversee major refrigeration repairs
• Assist with warranty repairs and manufacturer support
• Assist with fleet maintenance planning
• Maintain service records and repair documentation
• EPA certification (required)

Must frequently sit, walk and stand, use hands to handle, grasp, and twist objects, tools, or controls, and use both feet for repetitive movements as in operating foot controls. Must frequently walk, talk, crouch, kneel, bend, stoop, twist, and reach with the hands and arms. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds with assistance as needed. While performing the duties of this position, employees are subject to a warehouse environment and may frequently be exposed to changes in temperature and humidity based on assignment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Employees must be able to work weekends, holidays, days and night hours, and overtime as necessary and as assigned, and must be able to work in the condition specified for 8-10 hours shift as assigned. Travel requirements vary by assignment.
