Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Surgical unit role requiring Illinois RN licensure and experience in complex wound, ostomy, and tracheostomy care.

Details

Surgical unit within a hospital setting providing post-operative care for complex surgical patients

Manages new tracheostomies, wound vac therapy, complex wound management, and new ostomy care

Collaborates with general surgical residency and OMFS residency services

Day shift schedule: 7:00a-7:30p, three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)

6 weekend shifts required within a 6-week period

Holiday coverage required on a rotating basis

Uses Epic EMR for charting

Requirements

Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)

BLS certification (American Heart Association)

Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience required

ASN required, BSN preferred

Experience with Epic charting required

Level 1 Trauma experience required

Experience with wound vac therapy, complex wound management, new ostomies, and tracheostomy care

Additional Information

Responsible for a designated patient caseload, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care

Completes initial patient assessments and develops individualized plans of care

Maintains accurate and up-to-date nursing documentation

Reports and corrects safety hazards to ensure patient and staff safety

Offers constructive feedback and collaborates with peers for professional development

Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted

RTO may not exceed 7 total days within a 13-week contract

Contingent workers may not work continuously at this health system for more than 1 year without a 6-month break in service
