Job Title: Clinical Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Critical Care Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum three years of acute care experience required License: Current RN License Certifications: AHA BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: ICU experience, Registered Nurse Description: The Clinical Nurse (RN) is responsible, accountable, and has the authority to deliver safe, effective, quality nursing care according to nursing department goals and objectives. The RN, utilizing caring theories and relationship-based care, assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for all assigned patients. The RN makes determinations regarding patient progress toward goals and utilizes a therapeutic professional relationship with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to facilitate health promotion, maintenance, and restoration. Care is provided according to the specific physiological, developmental, and psychosocial needs of the patient. Supports the organization's mission, vision, values, and expectations of excellence. The RN demonstrates competence by consistently applying scientific knowledge from social, biological, and physical sciences. They assess the patient’s physical and psychosocial condition on an ongoing basis and formulate nursing diagnoses through observation and interpretation of client information. A care plan is formulated in collaboration with the client, ensuring that nursing services provide safety, comfort, hygiene, and disease prevention. The RN performs essential nursing skills, explains health treatments to clients and families, and teaches how to care for health needs. They evaluate the effectiveness of care plans through observation and communication with clients and health team members, modifying the plans as necessary. Demonstrates current working knowledge and safe use of equipment, instrumentation, and medications. Delegates tasks to care team members based on legal scopes of practice and prepares based on task capability, supervising nursing care effectively. Acts as the client's advocate as needed, initiating actions to improve healthcare or change decisions that do not align with client wishes. Provides culturally competent, age-appropriate, ethical care within legal standards of practice. The RN serves as a liaison in coordinating patient care activities with nurses, physicians, and allied health professionals. Utilizes effective communication skills to facilitate safe patient handoffs and documents nursing care per hospital policies. Implements manual and automated information systems to improve efficiency and productivity. Accountable for meeting or exceeding unit and organizational goals related to patient satisfaction. Contributes to positive patient care experiences through individual interactions with patients and families. Understands the impact of personal behaviors on patient experiences and assists in resolving complaints when possible. Investigates complaints and provides information to management as needed. Performs all physical duties of the job, requiring lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, and fine motor skills. Completes annual organizational requirements for employment.
