America's second oldest horse racing track, the Fair Grounds has been a New Orleans staple since 1852. We are a premiere entertainment venue presenting thoroughbred & exotic animal races, slots, video poker and simulcasting year-round. Located in New Orleans, Fair Grounds operates a slot-machine gaming facility and 13 off-track betting parlors throughout southeast Louisiana.

JOB SUMMARY

The Guest Services Clerk provides professional services in a variety of positions throughout the Fair Grounds facility to satisfy customer inquiries, needs and requests in a manner which meets and exceeds customer and company expectations.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure compliance with all operational and regulatory requirements.
• Disseminates accurate and real-time information to customers regarding the Fair Grounds' offerings and escalates request for information from superiors when needed. Educates customers about the offerings as needed.
• Creates and maintains a working environment conductive to positive morale, quality, creativity and teamwork.
• Maintains positive relations with customers and provides service satisfactory to customer and Fair Grounds requirements.
• Anticipates and responds to a wide variety of customer needs and request quickly and efficiently.
• Consults with customers to maintain goodwill and obtain satisfactory outcomes for disputes. Escalate disputes with superiors when appropriate.
• Build customer goodwill using proper etiquette techniques.
• Maintain confidentially of customer personal and account information when such is required to process transactions.
• Assists in monitoring and enforcing access to restricted and reserved areas in the facility.
• Advice and consultation with management to recognize opportunities to improve operations that better serve customers.
• Join in creating a working environment conductive to positive morale, quality, creativity and teamwork.
• Promotes attainment of individual and business unit goals.
• Responds to wide variety of unexpected and emerging issues and defines appropriate directions to address such issues.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be 21 years old. Must be able to obtain a Racing License from the Louisiana Racing Commission.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or equivalent. Ability to work in a high-volume environment. Excellent verbal communications skills with strong attention to detail. Be a self-starter and work with minimum supervision. Ability to work overtime and flexible hours as required including nights, weekends and holidays.

Constant wrist motion, sit, hear and eye/hand coordination; Frequently speak, read, write, stand, walk, bend and stoop; Occasionally lift, carry, push and pull.
