Job Title: Family Therapist Location: Township Office Job Type: Full-Time (40 hours/week) Starting Salary Range (DOQE): $60,000–$70,000 Position Base Salary Range: $60,000–$90,000 Position Summary The Family Therapist is a full‑time, 40‑hour per week position under the supervision of the Director of MaineStay Youth & Family Services. The Family Therapist assists with achieving the mission of MaineStay Youth & Family Services by offering a variety of therapeutic services to families, youth, adults, and couples. This position provides therapy services, facilitates psychoeducational groups, and works to enhance the functioning of families in need while promoting positive youth development. Responsibilities Provide individual and family therapy to Maine Township residents in both office and school settings Utilize strength‑based and solution‑oriented brief therapy approaches, supplemented by other approaches as needed Complete all required documentation in a timely manner according to departmental standards Actively pursue professional development through workshops and trainings Communicate with other service providers as needed Provide referrals as needed Facilitate psychoeducational groups or social emotional learning programs Assist with the training of master’s level intern therapists Conduct educational seminars as needed Provide live observation of clinical work or co‑therapy as needed Attend and actively participate in weekly case consultation meetings Assist with interviewing and selection process of prospective internship students Assist with staffing of summer camp as needed Assist with staffing of other programs as needed Attend all team and individual meetings as scheduled Represent MaineStay at community and school events as requested Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of MaineStay Qualifications Passion for helping youth and families reach their full potential Capacity to manage multiple projects in an efficient and effective manner Patience in working with individuals who may have behavioral and mental limitations Knowledge of family treatment theories and positive youth development strategies Skill in framing presenting problems in a family context using family systems and systemic models Capacity to manage strong emotions and mediate value conflicts effectively Flexibility to work effectively with a variety of ages and clinical issues Excellent communication skills and ability to lead constructive conversations Excellent organizational skills Ability to maintain professional relationships with residents, parents, schools, and organizations Ability to interface effectively with diverse populations, including different ethnic, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds Must be available to work both day and evening hours Education Master’s degree in marriage and family therapy, clinical mental health counseling, clinical psychology, or a related field (or nearing completion of degree) Computer Skills Excellent computer skills and knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, TherapyNotes EMR, Canva Certificates / Licenses Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) / Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) or Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) / Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) state of Illinois license in good standing (or working toward licensure) Benefits Medical insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Life insurance Flexible spending account 457 plan Generous PTO (vacation, personal, sick, holidays) IMRF pension plan eligibility Excellent supervision and training provided on‑site Great team atmosphere Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) eligible Maine Township is an equal opportunity employer.
