Base pay range $75,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr Additional compensation types Annual Bonus Direct message the job poster from KODIAK Construction Recruiting & Staffing Regional Talent Acquisition Manager | Direct Hire Job Description Compensation: $75,000–$90,000/year | Full-Time | On-Site Position Summary: Kodiak Labor Solutions is partnering with Airtemp , a respected mechanical contractor in Westbrook, Maine , to add an Assistant Controller to their growing accounting team. This newly created position supports future succession planning , offering a clear 2–3 year growth path to Controller . The Assistant Controller will handle the day-to-day accounting operations that keep the business running smoothly — from construction billing and project job setup to change order tracking , reconciliations , and month-end close . You’ll also oversee payroll for 66 employees and maintain a strong connection between project management and accounting functions. Key Responsibilities: Manage A/R billing for construction projects and maintain job cost accuracy. Set up new jobs in the accounting system, ensuring budgets and codes are correct. Process change orders and update project financials as needed. Support month-end and year-end close , including reconciliations and journal entries. Administer bi-weekly payroll for approximately 66 employees. Collaborate with Project Managers and leadership to maintain timely, accurate financial reporting. Assist the Controller with audits, process improvements, and financial analysis. Required Qualifications: 3+ years of construction accounting experience (mechanical, electrical, or GC preferred). Strong understanding of job cost accounting and WIP reporting. Proficiency with Sage , Viewpoint , or other ERP accounting systems. Solid knowledge of GAAP and general ledger principles. Experience processing payroll for mid-sized teams (50+ employees). Excellent organizational and communication skills; detail-oriented and dependable.
