Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 18 months Med/Tele RN experience required License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - General Med/Tele skillset including stroke experience - Cardiac rhythm interpretation - Trach care - Peripheral IV starts - Chest tube management - Nasogastric tube placement - Drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, etc.) - PCA pump management - Medication drip management including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IV fluids Description: The RN will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a medical-surgical telemetry unit. The unit typically manages patients with end-stage renal disease, fluid overload, sickle cell, diabetes mellitus, altered mental status, cellulitis, diabetic ulcers, pancreatitis, and behavioral health issues. Patient ratios are usually 1:5 to 6, with critical surges of 1:7 to 8. Support staff may include CNAs, Receptionists, and Charge Nurses. Phlebotomy and IV placement are essential duties, along with telemetry monitoring. Floating to other units within the region may be required based on patient care needs. The RN will work every other weekend and is expected to work 75% of holidays. Requests for time off may be approved up to 6 days, excluding holidays. A flexible scheduling cycle will be implemented every 6 weeks. The RN will utilize electronic medical records, IV pumps, and medication dispensing systems.
