AUDITORIUM MANAGER

In order to facilitate the management and oversight of the 650-seat, state-of-the-art Allen Park Center for the Arts, the Allen Park Public Schools is considering applications for an auditorium manager.

The Auditorium Manager will be employed by the School District to coordinate the safe and effective utilization of the Center for the Arts by internal and external groups to ensure that School District policies and procedures are followed and enforced in a consistent manner. The primary responsibility of the auditorium manager is to schedule, manage and implement the technical requirements of all auditorium events and manage the technical resources of the auditorium.

Responsibilities

• Maintain necessary auditorium facility use records and assist in invoicing when necessary
• Market and book the auditorium facility for use by external groups based upon availability
• Manage the auditorium schedule to ensure that all events are scheduled and do not overlap with other school events. Contact person/resource for staff/administration in planning events
• Maintain an accurate master calendar of all events in the auditorium and serve as the contact person/resource for staff/administration in planning events
• Maintain and assist in the use and application of auditorium related equipment (sound system, rigging, lighting spots, mechanical systems, etc.)
• Conduct training in the proper use of the auditorium facility equipment for student workers, student volunteers, school district staff and other volunteers
• Coordinate the technical demands of all productions, performances and events using the auditorium
• Coordinate the technical demands of single-date events as needed by the greater school community into the overall schedule. These events usually take place during evenings and/or weekends
• Coordinate and support technical requirements for all Fine Arts Department performances including theater performances and concerts
• Schedule, manage and implement the technical requirements of all auditorium events and manage technical resources of the auditorium
• Assist in problem solving issues related to the use and security of the auditorium facility
• Supervise all auditorium events including scheduling, set-up, presentation, and tear down
• Monitor volunteers and staff members who work and participate in theater productions
• Develop a working relationship with other building staff to support safety requirements for students and auditorium space
• Foster a professional, collegial relationship with all production coordinators, and school personnel involved in productions, programs and events
• Manage "student auditorium employees" who assist in setting-up productions, running performances
• Oversee staff during performances, run all crews on stage and direct publicity staff
• Coordinate post-production cleanup of all facilities, materials and equipment within two days of the performance
• Order and maintain all supplies and equipment for the auditorium facility
• Maintain safety and efficiency of all auditorium technical facilities: physical plant, stage rigging, construction area, lighting, and sound equipment
• Work with external contractors on issues ranging from floor replacement to lighting repair and special effects
• He or she will be required to follow any other instructions and to perform any duties requested by his or her management that generally fit into the job expectations
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with an emphasis in Technical Theatre, Theatre Management or equivalent professional experience
• Previous experience in auditorium/facility management and promotion, sponsor development and booking preferred
• Proficiency in Google, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills along with attention to detail
• Ability to greet students and parents, answer questions, communicate effectively and provide information in a professional, positive and supportive manner
• Working knowledge of construction and set design
• Working knowledge of lighting systems and design
• Working knowledge of stage rigging
• Working knowledge of audio and sound reinforcement
• Working knowledge of stage management/or production management
• Working knowledge and clear understanding of professional standards of stage safety
• Be able to communicate HVAC issues to HVAC technicians and be able to coordinate with HVAC technicians to address issues with the temperature control systems
• Demonstrated interpersonal communication abilities/skills for promoting positive relations and resolving minor conflict(s) between competing interest groups who utilize the facility
• Demonstrated ability for supervision and training of student workers, student volunteers, school district staff and other volunteers
• Demonstrated ability to solve problems in a timely manner
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education, Superintendent or Designee may find appropriate and acceptable

Salary

• Salary: $40,360 - $46,993 per year (to commensurate with education and experience)
• Schedule: 6 hours per day/30 hours per week/52 weeks per year
• Position offers flextime based on evening performances and weekend rental schedule
