Camp Counselor - Part-Time, Alpha - $30,000/year USD

Compensation, Hours & Location Compensation: $30/hr for 15–30 hours per week. Full-time option available at $60,000 annually with benefits. This model functions only when someone takes ownership of the operational side—ensuring transitions happen on time, preparing materials before lessons begin, and managing student attention before minor distractions evolve into disruptions. What You Will Be Doing Managing student transitions between activities (approximately 30 % of your time): tracking time, cueing students to move, and using positive reinforcement to maintain orderly, on‑schedule movement. Preparing materials for each lesson by collecting supplies, organizing them according to the activity plan, and verifying that setup aligns with the Guide’s instructions before teaching begins. Supporting student engagement during structured activities (approximately 40 % of your time) by observing participation, catching disengagement early, and redirecting students with Alpha‑approved classroom management methods without disrupting instruction. What You Won’t Be Doing Waiting passively at the back of the room for issues to emerge—this role demands active presence and continuous decision‑making during school hours. Creating lessons, drafting activity plans, or being responsible for academic results (those are the Guide’s duties). Improvising your own methods for managing student behavior; Alpha’s motivational techniques are prescribed and must be applied uniformly. Handling facility maintenance, carpool coordination, or after‑hours programming—your focus is classroom operations during the school day. Basic Requirements Available to work on‑site at our Scottsdale campus. Commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week, with full flexibility to set your schedule during school hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM). Full‑time role available. Prior experience working with children ages 5–14 in a structured environment (school, camp, childcare, tutoring, or coaching). Demonstrated ability to coordinate people, materials, and activities efficiently and effectively. Comfortable interacting with children and redirecting them using positive encouragement. Authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship. Nice‑to‑Have Requirements Direct group management experience with active children (camp counselor, classroom aide, teacher’s aide, paraprofessional, youth sports coach, or after‑school program coordinator). Background in a mastery‑based, competency‑based, or highly structured learning environment (Montessori, project‑based learning, or comparable models). Proven ability to keep groups on schedule through positive redirection without escalating to adult intervention. This is a part‑time (20 hours per week) long‑term position.
