Maintenance Worker

The Maintenance Worker provides a variety of skilled maintenance work to support Public Works to ensure the safety and security of County residents and visitors.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent AND
• Three years of full-time work experience in highway/road or parks maintenance that included the operation of various types of motorized equipment AND
• Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Air Brake designation, that is not suspended, canceled, or revoked

Must obtain and maintain a Class "A" CDL with 5th wheel Tractor-Trailer, Manual Transmission, and Tanker Vehicle endorsement, within six months of employment, at the employee's expense.

The finalist for a position vacancy will be required to pass a drug test, physical exam, criminal background investigation, driver's license, and DOT Drug/Alcohol testing verifications, all at County expense, prior to beginning employment with Washington County.

Desirable Experience:

• Build and/or widen roads and trails, road grading, cut slopes or landscaping, patching, place bituminous and concrete pavements, shouldering, ditching, culvert replacement, street, and/or trail sweeping, animal carcass removal and mowing.
• Load and/or haul materials such as salt, sand and salt mixtures, gravel, asphalt, debris, etc.
• Complete and proper set up of work zone traffic control measures, in conformance with the MMUTCD, for all operations performed within the highway corridor.

Selection Technique: Your training and experience will be rated based on the required application material submitted and the top-scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.

Hours / Days: 7:00 am - 3:30pm / Monday – Friday / 40 hours per week. Work, schedules (hours and days) are subject to change based on department needs.

Anticipated Pay Rate: $27.31 to $32.69 Hourly
