Responsibilities

The Mobile Crisis Team, Shift Supervisor is responsible for responding to mental health crisis upon dispatch. Shift supervisor will provide support with all calls that come into the crisis line. They will assist with obtaining necessary information to dispatch mobile crisis teams, and triage the initial crisis call. This individual will also provide clinical and operational supervision to Mobile Crisis Specialists (MCS) and Certified Peer Specialists (CPS) as directed by the Clinical Director of Crisis Services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide clinical and operational direction as a member of the interdisciplinary team through tasks including but not limited to evaluation the status of program services and conducting planning and coordination of activities to ensure immediate attention to the changing demands of the program to ensure quality of client services.
• Provide on-call duties on a rotating basis, which include but are not limited to carrying an Elwyn issued cell phone when on-call and responding to calls 24/7, responding to call outs to schedule staff to ensure continuous program coverage, providing consultation during crisis intervention and providing other general program administrative services and support.
• Shift Supervisor will answer and respond to all calls that come into the Delaware County Crisis Connections Team hotline, triage calls and obtain all necessary information to dispatch the team.
• Dispatch mobile crisis teams into the community from calls received on first shift, to assist the community with mental health support and services.
• In conjunction with other Shift Supervisors, oversee program logistics, including but not limited to vehicle maintenance, resource allocation (referral materials, provider brochures, paper assessment instruments etc.) and distributions of monthly County communications.
• Conduct daily case reviews to determine additional behavioral health service needs and any changes to required following mobile crisis team intervention.
• Supervise, direct, and evaluate team members to ensure service excellence and courteous, helpful and respectful services to persons services as well and ensuring adherence to department, agency, funding source and all state rules, regulations, and policies.
• Implement staff orientation and training and manage intern training.
• Provide oversight to ensure electronic health records management processes are in compliance with agency policies, Medicaid and other third-party payment requirements, ensure staff are trained on EHR requirements, ensure regular review of assessments, crisis plans and notes written by staff.
• Initiate billing protocols for all assigned records by reviewing and approving as appropriate.
• Work with Clinical Director to track and report of significant Quality indicators.
• In collaboration with Clinical Director, oversee program improvement initiatives around evolving clinical utilization activities, including outpatient follow up, use of crisis specialist services, use of crisis residential program etc. and develop and implement protocols, trainings, and incentives to improve utilization.
• Provide information technology (IT) support to the mobile team: collaborate with the IT department regarding technical issues.
• Assist Clinical Director with community outreach, training, and marketing activities to increase community presence and service utilization.
• Ensure compliance with all required service contracts and adherence to all regulations, certification and other approvals.
• Lead and actively participate in teams, committee, or special projects as directed by the Clinical Director.
• Provide oversight to the mobile crisis team and complete assessments for adults, adolescents, or children throughout Delaware County wherever the crisis is occurring.
• Work with individuals and their community supports to assess and de-escalate a crisis, which includes determining the level of care necessary to meet the individuals needs, and developing alternatives to involuntary hospitalizations through assessment, crisis planning counseling, and coordination of community care linkages and discharge process.
• Document all crisis service activities in the electronic health record (EHR)
• Complete tracking of referrals through activities including but not limited to completing necessary spreadsheets and tracking information to ensure proper follow up with referral sources and work with the Business Development team on information sharing about referrals.
• Advocate for individuals served with outside agencies including, but not limited to Social Security, Department of Public Welfare, Delaware County Office of Mental Health, Delaware County Base Service Units, etc.
• Attend scheduled staff team meetings and appropriate in-service training as directed by Director.
• Collaborate with the team to promote a team culture in which each person's point of view, experiences, and preferences arc recognized, understood, and respected, and in which the person' self-determination and decision making in treatment planning are maximized and supported increase awareness of and support participation in, self-help programs and advocacy organizations that promote recovery.
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), crisis intervention
• Maintains current state-mandated training and certifications
• Follows all current policies and procedures of Elwyn PA and DE
• Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must Be credentialed as a mental health professional which requires:
• Master's degree in social work, Psychology, rehabilitation, counseling, education or related field and 3 years of mental health direct care experience.
• Or a Bachelors degree in sociology, social work, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, counseling, education or a related field, or be a registered nurse and 5 years mental health direct care experience
• Supervisory experience preferred
• License in their field of study preferred
• Non-profit human service experience highly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage and prioritize multiple, often competing, priorities
• Demonstrated strong attention to detail
• Demonstrated strong time management and organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to anticipate future needed changes or identify problem areas and take effective actions
• Must be able to perform CPR and crisis intervention using agency-trained protocols
• Must possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication
• Demonstrated intermediate experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• (Experience using/knowledge of) Electronic Health Record (EHR)
• Must have current, valid driver's license in state of residence, three (3) years driving experience in the United States, and acceptable driving record
