Pathologist Opportunity

St. Joseph's Health, Syracuse, NY is seeking a pathologist. Practice setting: hospital-based pathology lab. Reason for coverage: shortage. Dates of coverage: 3 to 6 months. Call schedule: no. CLIA, NYS laboratory certifications held. Locum provider responsible for grossing their own specimens and cutting their own frozen sections on the cryostat. Group composition: 4 physicians, 5 histotechnologists, 1 pathology assistant, 2 cytotechnologists. Locum tenens physician not required to supervise other healthcare providers. Other pathologists present during locum's coverage. Equipment includes thin prep integrated imager by Hologic, cryostat-Avantik QS12UV, Avantik QS II, and microscopes Nikon Eclipse E400, Olympus BX41. Cytology proficiency exam required for GYN cytology. Documentation system/EMR: EPIC/Beaker. Trauma level/designation: level 3. Estimated credentialing timeframe: 40-45 days. Required anatomic pathology procedures: surgical pathology and cytology. Responsibilities will include general anatomic pathology, frozen section analysis, and cytology. Current surgical pathology volume is approximately 13,000 surgical specimens and 3,000 cytology specimens per year. Trinity Health does not reimburse for any application or credentialing fees.
