Veterinary Assistant

Job Title Veterinary Assistant Compensation Hourly rate: $15.19 – $19.41, depending on experience, skill level, education, and location. Job Summary The Veterinary Assistant is a key member of the hospital team who supports the veterinarians and veterinary technicians, ensuring the safety of pets, clients, and associates while maintaining the continuity of high‑quality veterinary care. Responsibilities Provide professional, efficient, and exceptional service, ensuring all clients and pets feel comfortable in the hospital. Use technical skills daily in accordance with state practice acts and NAVTA guidelines for veterinary assistant duties. Maintain the flow of patients through the facility. Communicate effectively with veterinarians and vet techs. Carry out or set up procedures that do not require veterinarian or vet tech assistance. Adhere to hospital standards, keeping treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs clean and organized. Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans and the importance of preventive care. Mentor other members of the hospital team. Preferred Education and Licenses Certificate of completion from a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Preferred Experience Demonstrated ability to perform all required skills of a NAVTA‑approved veterinary assistant program at a level that enhances practice efficiency.
