Location: Pleasanton, California (Bay Area)

We're looking for a detail-oriented and proactive individual with strong communication skills to grow with us. As a Receiving and Shipping Logistics Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting export and import compliance. This position serves as a trusted advisor to internal teams, helping ensure compliance with U.S. trade regulations while enabling global business operations.

Working closely with the engineering and procurement teams, this role blends hands-on execution with strategic guidance. You will review export activities, advise on regulatory requirements, and help drive consistent, compliant processes across the organization in a highly regulated environment. Responsibilities :

• Serve as the subject matter expert for Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS) and Schedule B classification of imported and exported goods, components, and raw materials, maintaining documented classification rationale and audit trails
• Determine export jurisdiction and classification (ECCN/USML) for products, technical data, and services under the EAR and ITAR, and maintain the classification database
• Determine country of origin, customs valuation, and apply free trade agreements, USMCA, and duty drawback opportunities to optimize landed cost
• Review and approve international shipping documentation — commercial invoices, packing lists, air waybills, INCOTERMS, AES filings, and certificates of origin — for accuracy and regulatory compliance
• Manage customs broker and freight forwarder relationships, including performance, issue resolution, and compliant/timely entry filing.
• Receive and verify accuracy of all shipments into ERP system and route to the appropriate parties
• Oversee day-to-day shipping, receiving, RMA processing, and internal material transfers, coordinating outbound shipments via FedEx, UPS, and freight/trucking carriers
• Support HazMat identification, labeling, packaging, and segregation
• Receive, tag, and track government-furnished property and GFE/GFM per FAR Part 45 and the company property management system
• Maintain compliance records, classification databases, and audit trails sufficient to support DCAA and SOX audits and internal monitoring activities
• Support internal and external audits, corrective action development, and voluntary disclosure investigations as needed.
• Create, maintain, and enhance written compliance procedures, work instructions, and job aids; deliver training to Engineering, Procurement, Shipping, and other stakeholders
• Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Supply Chain, Contracts, Accounting, and Logistics to ensure compliant cross-border business execution

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, international trade, supply chain, engineering, or a related field, or 5+ years relevant experience
• 5+ years of experience in import/export compliance, trade compliance, or global logistics, with demonstrated expertise classifying products under HTSUS and Schedule B
• Working knowledge of U.S. trade regulations, including the ITAR, EAR, OFAC, CBP regulations (19 CFR), and the Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR)
• Experience determining export jurisdiction and classification (ECCN/USML) and preparing export license applications (DSP, BIS-748P/SNAP-R, AES)
• Experience managing customs brokers and freight forwarders and reviewing international shipping documentation
• Experience with denied/restricted party screening tools and trade compliance systems (e.g., SAP GTS or similar)
• Demonstrated understanding of internal controls, including segregation of duties, documentation/audit trails, and SOX or DCAA compliance support
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel at a minimum) and ERP systems (Deltek CostPoint preferred)
• Strong analytical, decision-making, and communication skills, with the ability to interpret regulations and apply them to business operations
• Proactive, self-starter, and detail-oriented; ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision
• To comply with U.S. export control laws, Vector Atomic employees must be U.S. citizens (born or naturalized), lawful U.S. permanent residents (i.e., green card holders), or certain categories of refugees and asylees

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in Export Compliance (e.g., CUSEP, IEE/EI) or an equivalent professional credential
• Experience in a government contractor, defense, or advanced manufacturing environment with ITAR/EAR-controlled products and dual-use technology
• Experience with duty drawback, USMCA/FTA origin analysis, and country-of-origin determinations
• Experience supporting deemed export controls and Technology Control Plans in an R&D or engineering environment
• Experience supporting DCAA audits or SOX inventory/asset controls in a project-based environment

Pay Range

The approximate base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 per year. The total compensation package includes base, bonus, equity and benefits. Please note that it is less common for candidates to be hired at the top of this range, as final compensation is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Compensation will vary based on individual factors such as education, qualifications, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location, and calibration against relevant market data and internal team equity. Posted base salary figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available.
