Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

Job Summary:
The PACU Registered Nurse is responsible for providing specialized post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgery. This role ensures patient safety, monitors vital signs, and collaborates with medical teams to facilitate a smooth recovery process.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patient conditions continuously during recovery to identify and respond to any changes.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and clinical protocols.
• Document patient information accurately in the EMR system, following hospital standards.
• Collaborate with charge nurses, pre-op, and surgical teams to coordinate patient care transitions.
• Maintain a safe and sterile environment, adhering to hospital policies and ASPAN guidelines.
• Adhere to patient ratios, including 1:2 in Phase 1 and up to 3 RN coverage in Phase 2, ensuring quality care.

Qualifications:

• Current, unexpired RN license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 1 year of recent PACU or post-anesthesia recovery experience.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required.
• Ability to interpret cardiac strips and respond promptly to emergencies.
• Excellent critical thinking and communication skills.
• Must have a driver's license with an address outside 50 miles from the facility.
