Engineering PrincipalPosition OverviewThe Engineering Principal will lead technical delivery and strategic direction for mechanical and MEP engineering projects. This role combines hands-on engineering expertise with client relationship management and project leadership to deliver high-quality HVAC, piping, and fire protection systems across commercial, institutional, and industrial projects. The Principal will ensure technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and profitable project execution while mentoring engineering teams and representing the firm to clients and stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and oversee engineering design for mechanical, HVAC, piping, and fire protection (FP) systems across building and industrial projects.Serve as the primary technical authority and point of contact for clients, offering strategic guidance, scope definition, and value engineering.Manage project lifecycle from proposal and design through construction administration and closeout, ensuring schedules, budgets, and quality targets are met.Review and approve engineering designs, calculations, specifications, and construction documents to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and best practices (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, local codes).Coordinate multidisciplinary MEP design activities and interface with architects, structural engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues.Provide engineering leadership and mentorship to project teams; assign work, conduct technical reviews, and foster professional development.Perform peer reviews, QA/QC checks, and risk assessments; implement continuous improvement in design processes and standards.Support business development efforts by preparing technical proposals, scopes of work, and client presentations; contribute to pursuit strategy and estimating.Oversee field engineering and construction support, including RFI review, submittal review, site visits, and commissioning oversight.Maintain licensure and professional standards, uphold safety practices, and promote a culture of ethical engineering and client service.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline; Master's degree preferred.Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in one or more states required; ability to obtain additional state licensure preferred.Minimum 10-15 years of progressive experience in mechanical/MEP engineering with significant experience in HVAC, piping, and fire protection system design.Demonstrated experience leading projects and multidisciplinary teams, and delivering complex commercial, institutional, or industrial projects.Strong knowledge of codes and standards including NFPA, ASHRAE, ICC, and applicable local building codes.Proven ability with engineering software and tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, BIM coordination tools, and calculation software.Excellent technical writing, presentation, and client-facing communication skills; experience preparing proposals and technical scopes.Experience with construction administration, commissioning, cost estimating, and value engineering.Track record of mentoring engineers, implementing QA/QC processes, and driving continuous improvement.Willingness to travel to client sites and project locations as required.BenefitsHealth/Dental/Vision90% paid health and dental insurance401k with company matchPTO/Holidays OffSick LeaveOpportunities for career development through paid training and educationTuition Reimbursement Available
