# Medical AssistantMiddletown Clinic - Middletown, OH 45042## DescriptionCenterpoint Health is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support to our health care providers and patients at our Middletown and Franklin, Ohio locations.POSITION SUMMARYThe Medical Assistant works as part of the health care team to support providers and patients with clinical and administrative activities. Responsibilities include patient intake, clinical support, documentation, scheduling, referrals, and other activities that support quality patient care.JOB DUTIES* Escort patients to examination rooms and obtain vital signs and other information related to the visit.* Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record.* Assist providers with examinations and clinical procedures.* Prepare and maintain examination rooms before and after patient visits and procedures.* Collect and enter patient information into the electronic medical record and other systems.* Process prescription refill requests according to established procedures.* Assist with referrals and scheduling of diagnostic tests and specialty appointments as directed by providers.* Assist with coordination of patient referrals and follow-up services.* Answer and return patient telephone calls.* Communicate with patients and insurance representatives as needed.* Perform registration, scheduling, and other office support activities.* Maintain patient confidentiality and follow established privacy and quality standards.* Follow established clinical and safety procedures.* Assist with maintaining supplies and equipment needed for patient care.* Complete required training and clinical competencies.* Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.* Participate in meetings, training, and professional development activities as required.* Perform other duties as assigned.EDUCATION* High school diploma or equivalent required.* Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program required, or successful completion of applicable U.S. Armed Forces medical services training.* Medical Assistant certification or registration preferred at the time of hiring; this certification or registration is required within six months of hire.EXPERIENCE* One year of clinical experience preferred.* Experience in family medicine, pediatrics, behavioral health, or community health preferred.SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS* Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.* Strong organizational and time management skills.* Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and members of the health care team.* Ability to work collaboratively in a health care environment.* Strong attention to detail.* Ability to follow established procedures and instructions.* Proficient computer skills.* Experience with electronic medical records required.* Ability to learn and use clinical equipment and technology appropriate to the position.* Spanish and English bilingual skills preferred.Blood-Borne Pathogens Exposure: Category 1PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe physical requirements of this position may include the ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform activities such as bending, walking, navigating steps, pushing, pulling, and squatting.
