Join our team as a Senior Software Engineer Engineer!

This is a fixed hybrid role on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday in Nashua NH

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior .NET Software Engineer to join our Global Technology Services (GTS) Software Development team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable applications that support a diverse range of users across the organization. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions that align with business needs.

• Design, develop, and maintain software applications used across Protolabs’ digital manufacturing and commerce platforms
• Build and enhance features using .NET Core, C#, web services, and SQL Server
• Leverage AI tools for software development such as Cursor, Claude, or Copilot
• Design, implement, debug, and deliver high-quality software
• Participate in requirements gathering, system design discussions, design reviews, and code reviews
• Create and maintain unit tests and automated acceptance tests to ensure software quality and reliability
• Debug and resolve production issues across both functional and technical areas
• Work from established system designs and specifications using standard development tools, procedures, and best practices
• Collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, product partners, and cross-functional teams
• Provide technical input and support to less experienced engineers when appropriate
• Communicate development progress, risks, and support needs to team members and management
• Follow software engineering best practices and contribute to system resilience, performance, and maintainability
• Stay current with relevant technologies, frameworks, and industry best practices
• Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation to support global software systems
• Perform other duties as assigned

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of professional software development experience or equivalent demonstrated capability
• Proficiency in C#, Visual Studio, MS SQL, HTML, and JavaScript
• Experience with .NET development
• Experience developing, maintaining, and supporting production software systems
• Familiarity with multiple .NET patterns and platform technologies such as client/server, ASP.NET, web services, WCF endpoints, SOA, or MVC
• Experience using version control systems in a team environment
• Strong communication skills and a solid work ethic
• Good understanding of core software engineering concepts, design principles, and development practices
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies
• Demonstrated accountability, positive attitude, and ability to meet commitments
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team
• Proven ability to stay current with technology best practices

Physical Demands:

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use a computer keyboard, monitor and mouse, telephone and printer; reach with hands, and arms, talk, see and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop or kneel and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment:

Indoors (A/C); nonsmoking; the majority of this job function is performed in an office setting requiring normal safety precautions. However, there may be job duties that require the employee to spend time in the manufacturing areas exposed to machinery and noise; eye protection occasionally required. Occasionally works in outside weather conditions. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
