Cardiac Sonographer

Summary Performs all required ultrasound and clinical evaluations at a technical level. Maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self‑motivated to increase the level of understanding and knowledge of the field of vascular disease as new developments emerge. Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic vascular laboratory examinations. Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify and record appropriate anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic images. Responsible for the safety, mental, and physical comfort of the patient while in the sonographer’s care. Shift & Compensation Work Shift: Day (United States of America)|Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40|Compensation: Salary Range: $32.50 – $52.00|Union Position: No|Department Details: Responsibilities Assist with the maintenance of laboratory accreditation via ICAVL, ACR, and JCAHO. Establish and maintain ethical working relationships and good rapport with all customers (patients, co‑workers, physicians, peers, etc.). Possess thorough knowledge and understanding of cardiac and/or vascular anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamic principles. Know two‑dimensional color flow and Doppler waveform analysis. Understand age‑related protocols for the various testing protocols. Possess excellent communication skills to work with patients and families, physicians, and other healthcare workers. May have access to medications for distribution to licensed personnel. May perform ultrasound procedures for the mobile outreach program as well as vascular screenings at various locations, including driving Sanford vehicles, flying by aircraft, and occasionally staying overnight at a hotel. Qualifications Associate degree in Cardiovascular Technology or two years equivalent experience. Registration or eligibility to be registered with ARDMS with Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification or CCI with Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) certification. Obtain RVT or RVS certification within 24 months of appointment (may be sooner depending on departmental needs). Maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record; held to Sanford category driver’s license policy and medical guidelines when applicable. Basic Life Support (BLS) required within six weeks of employment and re‑certification as necessary. For work in North Dakota, licensure through the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (NDMIRT) Board is required. Other Requirements Leadership may require faster attainment of RVT or RVS certification. Travel may involve driving, flying, and overnight stays.
