Be part of a team that pushes the boundaries of satellite communications technology to make global connectivity a reality.As a Device Software Development Engineer on the Amazon Leo Satellite Gateway team, you will design and develop embedded software for Amazon Leo's satellite and ground systems. You’ll work on fault-tolerant, real-time platforms, collaborating closely with hardware, software systems, and product teams to deliver secure, reliable, and high-performance solutions.This is a unique opportunity to shape the next generation of space-based communication systems with minimal legacy constraints. Your work will directly support critical government initiatives, enabling secure and high-performance communication systems for U.S. and allied missions.Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Key job responsibilities• Develop embedded software in C, C++, and Python, and Linux kernel drivers.• Write device drivers and system applications for the various satellite systems.• Write software to interact with micro-controllers• Develop and maintain Linux kernel drivers and device-tree overlays for SPI, I3C, I2C, CAN, GPIO, DMA and UIO interfaces.• Work closely with other software and hardware teams to support board bring-up and integration testing.• Build and maintain the Yocto/OpenEmbedded distribution: BitBake recipes and layers, A/B partition boot, secure boot, eMMC and NOR storage, and SWUpdate image generation.• Leverage modern application frameworks for Embedded Linux and bare-metal/AMP platforms to develop scalable, modular, and high-performance software.• Debug and resolve complex hardware-software integration issues using tools like logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.• Develop kernel features required to support upcoming hardware and software capabilities, targeting AMD/Xilinx Versal and Zynq SoCs.A day in the lifeAs part of the Satellite Gateway team, you will design and implement embedded software used in the Amazon Leo products. You will work in a collaborative environment with teams inside and outside of Amazon. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
