Service Associate

*Service Associate Responsibilities*

Service Associates are responsible for daily service operations and have five different levels of experience and knowledge. Each level requires specific knowledge of tuning services, machines, maintenance, etc., including some responsibilities outside of the primary job function or department. Below are the responsibilities for each Service Associate level. Other than Level I, expectations for all listed items in the next level must be met prior to be promoted into that level.

All Service Associate levels are required to have open availability for Christmas break, MLK weekend, Presidents’ Day weekend and Spring Break, unless previously authorized by the Store Manager and Service Work Supervisor.

*Level I ($17)*

A Level I Service Associate is for employees without documented tuning experience or cannot meet the requirements under Level I+. To move from Level I to Level I+, all knowledge and expectations in Level I+ must be met.

*Level I+ ($17-19)*

Understanding of basic tuning techniques

* Buff wax
* Hot wax
* Machine edge
* P-tex work (black and clear)
* Belt and stone grinding

Know all service offered and prices

Ability to identify brand, model and size on hardgoods

Know how to navigate tuning site software

* Filling out service tickets
* Customer and employee communication
* Closing out tickets
* Signing liability waivers

Know which company personnel are experts in all major tuning services

* Binding mounting/binding testing
* Epoxy work and base patches
* Edge replacement

Hardgoods knowledge

* Ski and/or snowboard anatomy
* Ski and/or snowboard binding anatomy

Ability to navigate Point of Sale system

* New sales
* Adding customer and customer type
* Returns/refunds
* Gift card sales/redemption

Interdepartmental knowledge and experience requirements

* Ability to schedule bootfitting appointments
* Rental knowledge
* Rental ski technician certification from all vendors
* Packages and pricing
* Basic navigation of rental system
* Setup rental skis and snowboards

*Level II ($18-22)*

Full knowledge and demonstrated ability to perform intermediate tuning techniques

* Epoxy work
* Snowboard binding repairs

Complete understanding of ski binding types and their compatibility with all ski boot sole types

Can install and test pre-mounted ski bindings

Full ski technician certification for all major binding brands

*Level III ($21-24)*

Advanced tuning techniques

* Edge replacement
* Base material patching
* Dressing stone
* Stone patterns and why it’s important

Ability to perform all machine maintenance

Ability to mount, test and troubleshoot all ski bindings (alpine, alpine touring, telemark, cross country)

*Expert ($24-35)*

Recognized internally and externally as an expert in tuning techniques and ski binding mounting

Relationship established with local ski team and, preferably, ski instructors

Assisted company in training service work associates in at least 1 store outside of the individual’s primary work location for at least 2 training cycles (seasons)

*Supervisor Assignments*

The Service Work Supervisor will assign tuning stations and ticket assignments daily (tuning stations will be different every day and assigned based off tuning shop needs.)

It is the Service Associates responsibility to ensure their assignments are completed by the end of their shift.

Tuning station must be cleaned, and tools must be put away neatly for the next Service Associate.

Report low supply item quantities to the Service Work Supervisor
