TE Connectivity's Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Teams are process leaders for stamping, molding, or assembly related topics, ensuring the processes are running at optimum levels for quality and output. They are experts in mold tooling, die tooling, machining, and assembly techniques, possessing extensive knowledge of the associated manufacturing processes which may include the optimization and standardization of stamping / molding / assembly or other processes within the manufacturing environment. Manufacturing Engineering Teams enable the TE business unit plants to reach TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) requirements, roll out Centers of Excellence (COE), Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP’s) and advise plants on tool and machine duplications / corrections / improvements. They design and develop manufacturing process and automation platforms and apply them for the realization of new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production. The teams also support Product Development in the selection and optimization of tools for piece part production and the selection of the most suitable manufacturing concepts relative to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements and manufacturing location. They act as interface between engineering and production to ensure manufacturability and smooth production ramp up as well as support the research & development teams to produce sample manufacturing equipment, product samples and prototypes.Job RequirementsNew process development, including process documentation and qualificationCollaborate with Product Development Engineering to ensure designs meet cost objectives and are driven by design for manufacturability principlesConduct design reviews and provide technical recommendationsSupport Project Management Office in project quoting and manufacturing location selection to improve margin, OI, and ROIParticipate and lead FMEA reviewsAnalyze process/equipment capability and performing DOEs to establish optimal processes and equipmentCarry out process improvements and problem solving through root cause analysisDrive process optimization with data driven decisionsCoordinate with suppliers and machine shops for die fabrication.Support the Sustaining Manufacturing teams in the identification and execution of savings projects for new and existing product linesInitiate/manage capital equipment projects; specifying and implementing new manufacturing equipment including RFQ, FAT, SAT, Installation, and TrainingResolve tool and design problems as related to the stamping of componentsApply knowledge to the design, build, and procurement of stamping dies and auxiliary equipment to meet TE quality and production standardsWork in a hands-on environment being directly responsible for engineering sample builds, design verification samples, and qualification productWhat your background should look likeMechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent with 5+ years of experience is preferred or 5 years of experience in a manufacturing plant as a stamping/die engineerExperience with machine and equipment design, development, and manufacturing deploymentHigh level of competency with 2-D and 3-D modeling software, Creo preferred but not requiredProficient in MS Office Software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.Knowledge in statistical software packages such Minitab preferred but not requiredSound project management skillsWorking knowledge of six sigma and lean manufacturing toolsUnderstanding of material and conversion savings calculationsCapability to work in a fast paced, dynamic global environment with multiple projectsStrong interpersonal and communication skills, including the demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environmentA self-starter that requires minimal supervisionGB or BB in Lean Design for Six Sigma or DMAIC preferredCompetenciesSET : Strategy, Execution, Talent (for managers)ABOUT TE CONNECTIVITYTE Connectivity plc (NYSE: TEL) is a global industrial technology leader creating a safer, sustainable, productive, and connected future.
