Position Information Working Title: Finance Specialist Department: AVE Business Center-3026 Requisition Number: S_260393 Posting Open Date: 05/28/2026 Application Review Date: 06/11/2026 Posting Close Date: Open Until Filled Description of Work The Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources Business Centers are a cohesive team that provide professional service, efficient resource management, and effective solution development with integrity, accountability and focus on the customer. This position is located on UNL’s East Campus. Responsibilities Serve in a consultative role and be responsible for providing finance support in a timely and accurate manner and in compliance with all applicable institutional, UNL , State, and Federal regulations, policies, and guidelines. Execute and review routine and complex finance transactions. Work closely with employees within the departments served, as well as functional office staff, providing a high level of customer service and professionalism in all interactions. Function under limited supervision and be expected to utilize technology to provide professional services. Following an initial training period of up to six months, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with a minimum of 3 days per week worked on site. Hybrid arrangements are subject to supervisor approval and are determined based on operational needs. Note: Sponsorship will not be offered for this position. See Minimum Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of related finance work experience; additional relevant education or experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis. Experience with SAP or large integrated finance system. A willingness and demonstrated ability to learn new hardware and software systems. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with rules and regulations, including HIPAA and FERPA guidelines on disclosure of information. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships within and outside of reporting lines. Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines. Preferred Qualifications Experience performing project or cost accounting. Experience conducting training. Experience serving multiple units as part of a service team. Experience performing finance tasks at a University of Nebraska institution preferred but not required. Knowledge of federal and state laws and guidelines related to business practices. Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others. Additional Requirements Pre-Placement Driving Record Review Required: No Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
