MedSurg RN - 13-Week Contract Position

Schedule

This position offers a night shift schedule of 3x12 hours (1900 - 0700).

Job Description

The MedSurg RN will provide exceptional, evidence-based care to patients in the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), a critical care step-down unit. This role involves caring for adult, acute care patients requiring specialized monitoring and treatments, receiving patients from the Emergency Department, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Intensive Care Unit, and medical-surgical floors.

Responsibilities

• Manage a patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7.
• Provide continuous pulse-oximetry and telemetry monitoring.
• Administer IV therapy and phlebotomy, including peripheral line care and management.
• Provide respiratory support with nasal cannulas, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tanks.
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and utilize Rapid Response/Code teams.
• Adapt to the varying needs of patients while providing compassionate care through a multidisciplinary approach.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Must hold a valid New York RN license.
• A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a MedSurg or IMCU setting.
• Must have EPIC charting experience.
• Certifications must include BLS and NIHSS; current NIHSS certification is required at the time of submission.
• Previous charge experience is preferred.
