Dietary Aide / Server

Server Position

The server is responsible for courteously serving resident and guest meals, and for clean-up and resetting of dining room following meal service.

Responsibilities include:

• Assisting residents when placing orders from the menu
• Providing beverage service (water, iced tea, juices, milk and coffee/tea)
• Refilling salt/pepper/sugar bowls prior to and after each meal
• Reporting any broken equipment or tableware to supervisor
• Understanding sit-down service and proper serving techniques
• Having a basic understanding of food preparation (salads, desserts, etc.)
• Knowledge of proper food storage and labeling techniques
• Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming kitchen and dining room
• Attending required in-services and staff meetings
• Completing all other duties assigned
• Being attentive to special needs of residents including mobility deficits, memory impairment, etc.
• Assisting with tray service
• Following confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information
• Interacting in a polite considerate manner to residents, guests, co-workers and supervisors

Requirements include:

• Being in clean designated uniform during working hours and maintaining good personal hygiene
• Being able to read and follow simple instructions
• Possessing the ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks
• Being able to learn quickly and apply learned principles
• Being able to communicate effectively and work under close supervision
• Being able to bend, reach, grasp, push and pull objects
• Being able to stand and walk for sustained periods up to three (3) hours at a time
• Being able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis and carry heavy objects for 20 feet
• Being organized and willing to work well with other team members
• Being willing to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays
