S Y Lee Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced MEP Mechanical and/or Plumbing Designer to support the design and production of construction documents for commercial, educational, municipal, healthcare, private, and public-sector projects.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with mechanical and/or plumbing building system design , is proficient in AutoCAD and/or Revit , and can develop accurate, well-coordinated designs and construction documents while working closely with our engineering and project management teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical and/or plumbing system designs and prepare construction drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit .
• Prepare system layouts, equipment plans, details, schedules, and related construction documents.
• Assist with HVAC and/or plumbing system design, including ductwork, piping, equipment layouts, and system coordination.
• Perform or assist with engineering calculations, system sizing, and equipment selection under the direction of engineers and project managers.
• Coordinate designs with architectural, structural, electrical, and other engineering disciplines.
• Incorporate engineering markups, plan-check comments, and client feedback into construction documents.
• Review drawings for accuracy, code compliance, coordination, and completeness.
• Maintain company drafting/BIM standards while meeting project schedules and deadlines.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of mechanical and/or plumbing design or drafting experience for building projects preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit required .
• Experience developing mechanical and/or plumbing building-system layouts.
• Experience preparing construction documents for commercial, institutional, or similar building projects preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
• Ability to understand and apply engineering calculations, design direction, and markups.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and coordinate effectively with engineers, project managers, and other team members.

Preferred Experience

• Mechanical/HVAC Design: HVAC system layouts, duct sizing, air distribution, mechanical piping, equipment selection, and heating/cooling load calculations.
• Plumbing Design: Domestic water, sanitary waste, vent, natural gas, plumbing fixture layouts, and pipe sizing.
• Construction Documents: Developing coordinated mechanical and/or plumbing drawings from architectural backgrounds through permit submittal.
• MEP Coordination: Experience coordinating building systems with architectural, structural, electrical, and other engineering disciplines.
• California Projects: Experience with commercial, educational, municipal, healthcare, or other institutional projects, and familiarity with applicable California building codes, Title 24, and DSA requirements.
